SUBMISSION GUIDELINES: General
When emailing your work, PLEASE place the following in the subject line:
"SUBMISSION: Participant for Recipient" (example: SUBMISSION: megyal for o0o_faor_o0o).
Writers:
Your work must be ready to be posted right to Livejournal or Dreamwidth.
This implies the following:
- It must be beta'ed. We try to read every file, and if we catch more than a certain amount of grammatical or spelling errors, we will send it back to you with a request to have someone read it over again. This is because we'd like everyone to have the best gifts they can possibly get.
- Word (.doc), rich text (.rtf) or plain text file (.txt). Please no HTML files.
- Skip a line between each paragraph; there's no need to put
or
tags. - Use or tags for italic, and or tags for bold. Yes, that means typing them directly into the text; if you still don't know how to tag your work in this manner, PLEASE look at this tutorial: BASIC HTML Coding [Text formating]. Another helpful tutorial is this one: Placing HTML tags around all similarly Formatted words at once (in Word)
- Use plain (straight) quotes in lieu of "smart" (curly) quotes in Word.
Smart ("curly") quotes are not that smart; they tend to mess with the LJ posts. To turn off "smart" quotes in Office 97-2003:
- Go to Tools > Autocorrect Options > AutoFormat (and AutoFormat As You Type)
- Uncheck the Replace as you type: "Straight quotes" with "smart quotes" box.
To turn off "smart" quotes in Office 2007: see this page. This will not remove any "smart" quotes that are already in the file. If you don't want to change your settings permanently, you can turn off "smart" quotes temporarily and run a find and replace on your existing file to change smart quotes and apostrophes to straight.
- Turn off "smart" quotes.
- In the existing file, select a "smart" quote and do Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard.
- Open the Find/Replace dialogue.
- Paste the "smart" quote into the Find field, and type a straight quote into the Replace With field. Click Replace all.
- Do this four times: for the open quotation mark, the close quotation mark, the open single quote, and the close single quote (i.e. apostrophe).
In either case, PLEASE REMOVE ALL "SMART" QUOTES, SINGLE QUOTES, AND APOSTROPHES FROM YOUR STORY FILE BEFORE SUBMITTING. - If you use ellipses in Word, try to make sure they're not "smart" ellipses: those don't show up either. (To get rid of "smart" ellipses for good, go to Tools > Autocorrect Options, look for the ellipse in the Replace ___ With ___ table, then delete that line or change it.)
If you're not sure, put your work in a private post, check it in your browser, and fix any weird symbols or line break issues you see.
- Make sure the file includes the title of the story and your lj username (so your mods can keep track).
- The FILE name should be something like: your username_title of your story.doc (or rtf/txt)
- Remember to use the Fic Headers as shown below
- Email the submission as an attachment to: kakairu.ficfest@gmail.com
.
- Alternately, use Google Docs to submit the story. After uploading the document, click on the link to open it, then click the Share tab, and choose "Sharing Settings". Add kakairu.ficfest@gmail.com as an editor. This will allow us to view and work with the document.
back to the top Artists:
- Email the image file to us as an attachment, to kakairu.ficfest@gmail.com; sorry about the 'fic' in the email, guys.
- We also ask that you attach a 100px by 100 px preview image, to be placed outside of the cut when we post.
- Make sure the file includes the title of the artwork and your lj username (so your mods can keep track).
- The FILE name should be something like: your username_title of your art.jpg (or .png/or any other general picture file extension)
- Remember to use the Artwork Headers shown below.
back to the top Header Templates
When posting, we want to make sure that the headers clearly indicate what the original was was and where it can be located. The accepted nomenclature for remix titles usually has a 'Clever Name Remix' as part of the title. The 'Clever Name Remix' can reference the original work in some way, or even be the original title itself. For example, if someone wanted to remix
Under The Moonless Sky by
aviss, they could name it: "Starry Night (The Under The Moonless Sky Remix)" or even "Starry Night (The Lunar Love Lockdown Remix)".
Copy and paste the appropriate headers from below, so that your work can be posted with the proper information. We will not post any work without a header filled out by the writer/artist. Remember, put in your username, even though we'll remove it to post anonymously. We'll fill it back in during the reveals.

Summary: The movement of an Obliviate through the human mind is such a destructive wave. The spin of a Time-Turner reverses the tide.
A/N: There were so many intriguing fics to pick from acromantular, but I managed to narrow down my choice to this one: Turning Back. It was really inspiring to try remixing it! Thanks so much to my betas for looking through this more than once for me, and any mistakes are a result of me playing around with this even after they got it as good as it could be.
