if you want to prescribe meds, you'd have to get your bachelor's from somewhere other than middlesex. then you'd have to go to medical school and become a medical doctor (M.D). after medical school you have to specialize in a field (you'd specialize in psychiatry) and become a psychiatrist. that takes about 5-6 years after getting a bachelor's degree and often costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

you could also go to nursing school and become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. they can also prescribe meds and that takes a little less time and money than medical school.

if you just want to be able to give therapy to your patients and diagnose them, you can get a master's degree in counseling or social work which is much much easier than getting into medical school and takes MUCH less time/money. also, most psychiatrists spend only a limited amount of time with their patients, whereas social workers or therapists really get involved with them.

hope this helps.
