Umm, I am not a doctor (god, some patients really got lucky) but by the will of fortune or misfortune I spent a lot of time in the hospitals. Based on my extensive experiences, I have to say that this story is complete and utter oveer-romanticized bull.
ok... seems to me like a pretty common series of events for a doctor in an intesive care unit. They have people die all the time so his focus on a couple of deaths that were especially "poignant" to him is to be expected. And if he draws confirmation of his career choice out of it, well, good for him.
btw, i find more interesting my own impression as I was reading that story -- for instance the fact that I assumed that it was a guy. Could be a woman. But I have a harder time imaganing a woman saying this.
