Sing!

It's been a long time since I really got to sing. I mean, not primary talk/teach-singing, and not every other line of hymns whilst telling a toddler the words in between so he can sing along, and not singing while doing dishes and having my kids tell me to be quiet so they can hear their movie ( Read more... )

I can't imagine it going in any direction but the "Well Done" direction. How fun for you! I do envy you your calling. That has got to be one of the funnest ones.

Oh thank you.
My calling is one of the funnest and HARDEST! The kiddos are so darling and hilarious but it's easy to burn out on all the massive amounts of preparation alone.

Do you do it all by yourself, or do you share the calling? This last time when I was called I told the bishop that I would like to share the calling, stating that it IS a high burnout calling. It took a few months before they got someone in there that was willing to share it equally. It was so much better when I shared the calling. We traded off months and it made such a big difference. The last time I was in that position I held it, or co-held it for almost four years and I still wasn't burned out on it. We both cried when we were released. It was the best experience I've had in any calling.

I started out on my own, then they got someone who split it with me Junior and Senior, then she moved a month later and I was on my own again for a long while, then they found someone else who then asked to be released after just two months, and here I am on my own again. The bishopric has told me that this and Nursery (which I did all last year) are the two hardest callings in our ward to fill. People either refuse to do them or ask to be released after very little time. Our ward (unlike the last ward I had this calling in) is really strict about following the suggested music curriculum and learning all program songs well and on time. I also very often only have 10 minutes each Sunday because sharing time goes over. They have gotten better about that since I asked them to be conscious of it. I still love it when I'm doing it, but the preparation and planning... ugh.
The way you did it sounds like THE way to do it!
