Libya in Upheaval

This is awkwardly political, but I feel like it needs to be said; the Libyan government is made up of one homicidal maniac who's too drunk on power to let his people go. He declared genocide on his own people, ordered his troops to rape and kill women in the streets, and is even bombing the populace.

sounds like many hi-ranking officials are resigning and denouncing these actions. crazy, I didn't know about this, wonder if it has any connection to what happened in Egypt over the past few weeks?

there's some good news, though:
"Hour by hour, there are reports of more defections. Almost all major tribal leaders seem to have joined the opposition, as well as important religious leaders and several senior Libyan ambassadors.

The east of the country is already almost entirely out of the hands of the government. Col Gaddafi's hold on power is becoming weaker by the hour."

thank goodness o.o I just watched a viedo of protesters getting shot at by the army ;___; I hope that this gets resolved quickly and the people have justice

I would imagine that's still happening, hard to say b/c you don't know how much of the news you can trust, but it at least sounds like they're fighting back. Scary stuff!
