Week in review: 4/29 - 5/5

    Negative Things:
  • They're only making 100 episodes of RvB and they released #96 last week!
  • Cody made a stink about how he couldn't get the weekend off to come down here and hang out, then tells me Saturday night that at the last minute, he was able to get Saturday and Sunday off so he could go party and get drunk there.
  • Neutral Things:
  • Been getting in a lot of hours for my dad--lots of money, but I'm tired of building these animations and whatnot.
  • Had to call Mystic Saddles and tell 'em I couldn't work for them this summer (not that they'd offered me a job yet, giving me the old "We haven't gotten to the applications yet" schpeil).
  • Positive Things:
  • Finished all my classes on Tuesday, much to the dismay of my four classmates who didn't finish until Thursday or Friday. Flip side being I've been bored the rest of the week.
  • Found out that I get to go to California for my new job (which I forgot to mention on my last weekly review). My new job involves catching small mammals--bats this coming week, a coastal and an inland species of woodrats in California, then back here for Bushy Tailed Woodrats (a.k.a. packrats) here (loosely: the entire State, and possibly some of the surrounding States) for the rest of the summer. I leave for Kelso Valley, California in little over a week--about 3-4 hours NNE of L.A.
  • Got to go spelunking in a cave Saturday with one of the other grad students who, much to our pleasure, knows a LOT of the same people that I know, so there was LOTS to talk about and common experiences to share on the 4-hour drive (we spent about 45 minutes in the cave). Did I mention this spelunking (and, more importantly, the drive) were paid? $10/hour. Hah.
  • Saw Spiderman 3 and Ghost Rider on Friday night, which was opening night for the Drive-In theater next door. Spidey3 was okay, but I thought it was a bit of a let-down from the other two. BUT!!! There was SWING DANCING (East Coast, to be specific) in it, to Peggy Lee's "Fever". HUZZAH! Impromptu dancing in a jazz club = totally fantastic. Ghost Rider is superb (this was the second time I've seen it), and I FINALLY figured out where I recognized Sam Elliot's (the Caretaker) voice from: He's the guy who does a lot of the voice-overs for Chevy and Ford truck advertisements. And not only does he have a totally sexy voice, but he makes a damned sexy cowboy even at 60+.
