Back in my day, we didn't have...organized religion. We used to hope that the great spirits would not crush our souls in the meat grinder of the afterlife as we toiled in the coal mines, waiting for a sweet release from the suffering. We also didn't have holidays.

And then you kids, with your MTV and internets and westernized medicine came along and changed all that, so now we have christmas. I hope you're proud of yourself.

Back in my day, we didn't have coal mines. We used to stomp up and down on the ashes of the scraps of wood that we burned to stay warm in frigid winters in the hopes that the ashes would turn into coal that we could someday mine and burn to keep us warm in yet more frigid winters.

We didn't have holidays either.
