So when I got back home after lunch; the squatter was gone, which irritated me even more.  I'm fine helping someone out, but she comes and goes whenever she pleases and gives no one in the house any warning.  I feel like she's taking advantage of us

wow... I would say that you and your roommates just need to tell her she can't stay there anymore... I have dealt with people like this before, and it never gets any better... even if they say it will. You have every right to be comfortable in your own house. Thats just my 2 cents.

The problem is not being able to talk to her since we never know when she's coming or going or where she is.
