NEW TV line up is painful, when are the networks going to wake up?

I figured I would this before the new seasons start but I am having this moral dilemma.

See, I only endorse media and literature that is women and POC friendly, and I don't mean in the lets mention them casually or use them
as sole love interests only kind of way.

With all the the truly heartening responses to people fighting intolerence and putting ( Read more... )

shows, things that matter

Maria Bello's Prime Suspect sounds good.

I think this year there are plenty of shows with female leads. It's all about what you want.

I'm the opposite, though. I rarely watch shows with female leads because they are either all about relationships or too much fantasy/scifi.

I loved Sirens though and I'll keep my fingers crossed for Sam. Sanctuary is great.

I rarely watch them too because they tend to focus on subjects that don't appeal to me at all.

I realize that this is the season where Shane is going to give us concrete details about certain things, I either accept them and I hope they make sense with what we have seen for the past two seasons or they don't and I move on. I'm at 50/50 right now because I always think creators screw themselves over when they don't develop certain aspects of their characters right away. But Shane claims to have a plan, will I like it, who knows.

I just got back into sanctuary, losing Ashley was a huge blow for me but it's still a great show.

Cold Case was one of these shows but it was canceled. The female lead is still one of my fave TV characters. I liked that she was somewhat quirky and strong.

Jack....LOLOL I wonder if he's choosing/accepting these gay roles on purpose. If the rumors are true, this is going to be the 3rd gay character he'll be playing in a year. XD I'm just soooooo effing happy he'll be guesting on TVD and if he's really Caroline's (my face character of the series, a good example for character growth) dad, I'll be dancing happily.

Cold Case was awesome and then like every other Bruckheimer produced show it got left in the cold because the man likes making shows but not managing them.

Jack is awesome and I really want him to be Caroline's dad. Yay, another little, kick-ass blond for him to father. And I adore Caroline way more than I like Claire from Heroes.

You would probably like Prime Suspect.

Also, Ringer is totally ridiculous but it is all about women. It's just Sarah Michelle Gellar as the main character(s) and a bunch of hot men there to fill out the rest of the show (with bonus Richard from Lost). I would wait until both episodes are available online and watch both in a row to see if you would like it. The pilot was not good, but it has potential to be the kind of show where the pilot is the clunkiest episode of the series. I don't usually judge shows on their pilots.

I think the shows you have the best chance of liking won't be out until January, though. Scandal looks good (lead as a professional woman and also a POC to boot) with bonus Desmond from Lost. And Alcatraz has a female lead; she seems like an Olivia Dunham type. With bonus Hurley from Lost!

The presence of Lost alums is totally coincidental, I swear.

I am thinking January will be a good time for me to test out shows then.
Ringer I will give about mid-season until I decide, its too early.
Any show that has LOST alums and actually uses them (gives H50 the stink eye) will get an automatic chance from me.

Haven is definitely worth your time. The trio of leads (Lucas Bryant, Emily Rose and Eric Balfour) are doing a great job and the writing isn't dumb. There are a few shaky eps in S1 but it does find its feet pretty quickly and I'm loving S2 ( ... )

Haven is love and I am really liking it, just waiting to hear on renewal news for that show before I dive into Season 2.
Never heard of Combat Hospital but sounds interesting.
I did some research on Alphas after you recced it and I'm trying it tonight, looks really good.

LUTHEEERRRRRRRRRRRR. <333333

Luther is made of pure win. Idris Elba is divine in it, and it's just superb writing in the first season, and Ruth Wilson too is spectacular.

Sanctuary - one of my favourite shows, but admittedly the source of great frustration when it comes to half the episodes being mindblowing, and then the other half being filler.

You really really need to try Alphas. Out of the 6 main characters, two are POC, and one is a high functioning autistic, and it has just been picked up for a second season.

And I honestly didn't even realise anyone apart from me watched Sirens <3

I love Idris so much so I knew it was just a matter of time before I get into the show. I might just straight out buy it.
More Sanctuary and trying alphas for sure.
Sirens is awesome but too short, I love the entire cast.:)
