You know, it's sad. I mean, with me, I'd be honoured to play a Disney character for a living (especially if it paid better than the current rates I've been hearing, but that's another story). To play such a legendary character like Mickey, Minnie, a character from one of the movies, or heck, even someone like Clarabelle Cow would be wonderful. These are legendary historical characters, and to help breathe life into them, for newer generations is in my opinion a very special task.

But these days I don't think many cast members feel that way. When I was at Disney World in April, Marie was very stiff, and Donald, Kenai, and Kovu were apathetic about their jobs. They slouched, or just stood there waving unenthusiastically, instead of properly interacting with the guests. Fortunately Daisy (my favourite Disney character!) was very well brought to life, and it wasn't hard for my imagination to fill in enough for me to pretend I was talking to the cartoon character herself!

I am sorry to hear that you felt that way about our characters being stiff and not portraying their roles enough to bring them to life for you. Most of our cast do love being out there with the guests. If you could only hear them bubbling when they come off stage about a guest that may have touched their hearts during a set. Even my PITA did very well onstage. What they do not like doing is the production line of the autograph books. It takes away from them playing and having fun with the guests. Some of our characters can pull off doing both and do it in a timely manner. It is too bad that the weekend you were here that you did not see our own Tilt in action. He not only brings his character to life...with the family that is with him he is entertaining the whole que line as well as those just watching from the sidelines. He rarely gives in to the production line. To quote him as he is about to go on set, "it is about the children", both young and old. Most of us love what we do and would love to be doing what alot of us ( ... )

Well, that's the ironic thing. The Characters I mentioned earlier didn't have the long line of autographs. Marie didn't have too many people around her at all. Neither did Kenai or Koda. In fact, Kenai didn't seem to want to pay attention to the guests at all. He just waved at nothing, or looked the other way or into the water instead of interacting with guests. Koda did all that.

I'm just glad Daisy worked out. Marie was a disappointment, but Daisy's my favourite and the one who really mattered. :)
