Tonight's House

So, in keeping with my newly discovered House love, I watched the new episode tonight.

I like how they're continuing the storyline with Tritter. Still think Tritter is an ass, but then that's pretty much his role. Fun to watch how the Houselings all react to him differently--Cameron gets all defensive and protective of House, Chase just looks nervous and flummoxed, and Foreman rebuffs the guy coolly more because he doesn't like Tritter than out of any particular fondness for House.

But but BUT... much better stuff than that happened in the ep. So much backstory on House! You know what I loved? That bit about the Japanese doctor/janitor, when House told the story, the subtle way he held his cane, stroking the curve against his chin slightly, like the way my two year old holds her favorite doll. Absentminded subconscious self-comforting. That cane is so his security blanket. Also, I totally want to know what House was "right" about that he wants his dad to admit.

And the thing with House and Wilson, so much squeeeeee. You know House feels bad for the position he's put Wilson in, and of course Wilson is mad and justifiably so, but he hasn't left yet. Maybe it's sheer stubborness and ingrained habit for both of them at this point--House just has to keep pushing, and Wilson just has to grit his teeth and dig in and refuse to leave him.

Then, then, dude the whole killing coma-guy bit, damn. Wilson setting up the alibi (without needing to be told to do it) and House waiting outside the room while the guy killed himself in such a manner as to keep his heart viable for transplant. Cuddy knew. She totally knew. It's amazing how much House gets away with. Makes me wonder if Tritter will pick up on this mysterious and convenient death that happened just in time for transplant and start investigating that too. I mean, think about it. House and Wilson knew that coma-guy wanted to give his son his heart. They knew (because House called Cuddy and asked) that he couldn't do it without dying first. And then they both just wandered off to the casino and left him alone for the exact amount of time it took him to kill himself but still got back in time to rush him to a hospital to perform the operation? Not exactly easy to buy, especially for a guy who's already suspicious.

This is another layer binding House and Wilson together. They have a shared secret, a pretty big one. House owes Wilson. I think he's starting to realize just how much, and that there are some people he doesn't want to push away. Some he can't afford to lose. After everything that's been between them, after the years they've known each other, remember what House said after Wilson confronted him about the stolen prescription pad? "What did you tell the cop?" Because after all that, House thinks that maybe Wilson would just sell him out. Maybe Wilson would put himself first, despite tons of evidence about who Wilson is and who he is not. House still doesn't trust him.

Maybe now that Wilson has protected him even through something close to murder, that will change.

I love my shiny new fandom. Yes I do. Must go find some House comms to share the happy squee. Also, I need House icons.
