Draco woke up, blinking at his surroundings in confusion. It took him a while to realise that he was in his own bed. That wouldn’t have been unusual, only he had been on a business trip to France! He should be waking up in his hotel room, not at Malfoy Manor.
The question why he was at home completely fled his mind when he heard a soft sigh. Draco’s head whipped around in alarm.
He wasn’t alone. Sleeping on the other side of his rather large bed was a witch who had her back towards him. However, Draco didn’t need to see her face to know who it was. The bushy brown hair spreading all over his pillows told him enough.
But he had no idea why she was in his bed. In fact, he couldn’t remember anything past sunset the other day.
To make matters worse, the witch in his bed suddenly began to stir. Before Draco could come up with a plan, Hermione Granger woke up and turned around. For a few minutes they stared at each other wide eyed.
“What am I doing here?” she asked eventually, clutching the sheets to her chest.
“Bloody good question, Granger.”
