Fic: Sleepwalking (Draco/Hermione)

Summary: Draco watches over Hermione at night.

A/N: Written for The Harry Potter Uncanon Drabble-A-Thon. emichka84 posted the prompt sleeping. This was my first idea for the prompt, but I don’t like how it turned out. So I posted the other one for the meme. But since I already wrote this drabble, I figure I might as well post it to my journal.
The first time Draco saw her he didn’t think anything of it. So he wasn’t the only one walking the halls of the Order headquarters at night. That wasn’t surprising. A lot of things happened during a war that didn’t let you find sleep.
It wasn’t until the second night he saw her that Draco realised that unlike him Granger had no trouble falling asleep. Still she was wandering the halls, like an Inferi, her eyes wide open and blank. Sleepwalking.
He followed her that night because frankly he didn’t have anything better to do. Since he had betrayed his family and everything he had been taught, sleep had been elusive, a state that could only be reached for a few precious minutes or by the help of potions. He had become used to feeling exhausted at that point, although looking at Granger Draco doubted that sleep was as restful as he seemed to remember.
Following her during the night became his routine; a way to pass the long hours until the morning. And he found for some strange reason that after he saw Granger safely back to her bed, he was granted a few moments of rest as well.
