I have broken my engagement to Rodrigo Neely. I don't know why I'm putting this on the internet- really, its nobody's business but our own, but hell, our friends read this, and marriage in general is a social thing

Glad you're doing better, and also that you had the courage to realize that you didn't quite want the permanence of being engaged. It's a big step and it's true that it usually means a definite end point to that engagement (in the form of a wedding). I'm also glad that Rod was able to realize that you were not in any way rejecting HIM, just rejecting the particular universe you'd suddenly found yourself in, one which you were not entirely sure you liked

And that's awesome, I need all the advice I can get. You're happily married and a science geek and so your advice is of particular value to me. If you were in Dallas, you would have been one of the first people I sought out for guidance.
Email me your #, I'll call you when I'm in town. KalisaGalina@hotmail.com
Well, I'm not going through one of the hardest PhD programs in the country, so you've got a slightly different set of challenges than me, but yes, I am happily married and a science geek. Can't really deny that one, nor would I really want to. My hubby is pretty much the thing that got me through that horrid experience at that OTHER graduate program (although my family and other friends were certainly contributors). A supportive partner is absolutely essential to those of us crazy enough to attempt graduate education in the sciences.
Jason, I can always count on you to be completely insane. I miss you alot. And by the way the turtle migration this year will pass through the endangered snechocame pass, to the tune of the violoxatlain, as revived by two college trust fund students in minnesota. This issue, as always, has brought republicans and democrats alike to the table, to discuss the current handling of passes in general...
Jason you kick so much ass. Find me before sunday if you can while I'm in town. We'll go break something and then discuss it for two hours. Or get my Dallas # from Rod and we'll just talk about some random frog spot or something. Yay!
Kalisa, I love you but...I'm a little disturbed you equate having children with your inevitable death. Now that I have children, I'm not sure I was alive before them.
You absolutely have every right to decide what's best for you, but hey, "Dont knock it until you've tried it!"
Totally. I know absolutely nothing about having kids, actually. My mom told me once that if I chose not to have any I would miss out on the most important education I would ever have
