The blood drive people always set up where you can't avoid them. And I can't walk by and not donate because I'm type O minus which I can just hear them needing ( Read more... )

The mice do deserve our respect. They're treated callously by some PIs, but their contributions to research are invaluable.

I don't think I could kill the meeses either. It would bother me.

Also, O negs unite! :)

Many of the cultures proceeding our own had customs of blood sacrifice, animal or human, that had many purposes, from the overwhelming task of keeping the sun itself in the sky to simple rituals of healing.

Your field, as I see it from an anthropological viewpoint, is one of our culture's spread about equivalents of the shaman and healer, forced to shed blood for the good of others, to save others from a horrible fate someday. A gruesome, but much needed ritual.

Hold your respect for the mice, and you'll be ok.
