But striving for perfection is our motivation to keep going. If we don't try, we won't do the best we can. You're correct that we won't achieve perfection but we can take pride in doing our best.

yeah, that's also what i mean. i didn't sound like "don't strive for perfection; just get by with the bare minimum" because then we'll end up un motivated. it's good to do the best we can do and there's nothing wrong with always being perfect so at least we can say that we did try as hard as we could.
