For my birthday, my mom-in-law got a goat through Heifer International. First time I'd heard of them, though I've heard of similar groups, but I thought that was super keen. Also goats are awesome.

And oooh a match? That's very very cool.

It's a very neat idea. I think I donated honey bees this year. The donations are sufficiently geeky and cool that I've wanted to make sure folks knew about them since it's such a win-win sort of situation
