For my birthday every year, my tradition is to watch the Supernatural episode closest to Dean's birthday and Sam's birthday, the years they turned the age I am. This year was 7x13 "Slice Girls" and 11x20 "Don't Call Me Shurley"--which, THE THINGS I DO FOR YOU, SAM!!!! It happens that 11x20 is my least favorite episode out of the 322 or however many

Happy Happy Birthday!!! (belatedly) I hope you had a good one. ;)
Slice Girls is a good episode. So much to love about that episode. Watching Sam kill Emma was definitely jarring. Despite Dean's protestations, I don't believe he would have gone through with it and killed her.
The other episode, yea, I share your sentiment about the episode. Not sure if it is my least favorite, but it is down there near the bottom. I really didn't care for how SPN dealt with the Chuck/God storyline. I truly hated that they made Chuck God. I wish they wouldn't have gone down that rabbit hole. But, oh well. This episode was written by Robbie Thompson. I loved Robbie, so surprised that this one episode of his would be more of a clunker. The next episode is also not a favorite. I hate the way Chuck talked to Dean, more specifically telling him not to put his daddy issues on him. Oh man! I did not like that. So, again, the Chuck is God SL was something I tolerated, but really didn't like.
I'm still in S8 of my rewatch. Haven't watched ( ... )

I don't think I have a really strong stance about Chuck as God, except that as a storyline I don't care about it and just tend to ignore it. If it were well done, would I be more receptive to it, or am I just turned off by the idea in general? I don't know! But I know I did not need 20 minutes of Metatron and Chuck talking to each other in this ep, hahaha. Robbie Thompson is interesting in that he's done some fabulous episodes! But I also tend to think of his tastes running a bit more precious/twee than mine.
I'm also in pretty much the same place in my rewatch (early S11) but I'm not actively watching anything right now except an anime. finchandsparrow and I just keep watching random SPN themed SPN eps instead of our rewatches, heh!

Don't Call Me Shurley is where I fell in love with Curtis Armstrong. (Relatedly, I just found out that the actor who plays Chuck is dating the actor who plays Rowena and they have a baby together!! That's the most I've thought about SPN actors in years.)

And what! I had no idea. I mean, I don't keep track of actor stuff, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised by myself, but that's fun! I also happened to see recently that the actors who play Benny and Garth are together, too? So many SPN couplings!
