I got my class roster today. I only have 6 kids. 1 7th and 5 8th graders. All boys. I'm so excited though. I spent the day reading IEP's and getting my papers together.

When's your open house? Mine is monday..

Wednesday from 3-6... not really looking forward to that because I have to pull all of my kids PEP's and have them ready to be signed... Which means between now and then I actually have to locate them...
grr.

I think that love comes blindly, so let it come to you. It'll pop up, kinda like how our jobs did...maybe you've expended most of your energy toward getting the job and the love life hasn't been as significant. But now that you've got a secure job and you're working and you're soon going to learn how to balance your professional and social life, you can get out and present more opportunities to meet people--one of whom might be your love ( ... )

I keep hoping that that is how it will be.
It just sucks to be constantly looking at guys and wondering...

What do you have to do for your lateral entry??

My having inclusion has nothing to do with my competence... it just happened that my team is the only 3 person team (I'm only ELA and one of the girls was only math, so they put us together with the SS/Sci teacher). I was supposed to have one class to myself, but because of scheduling conflicts we had to rearrainge and Terri (my co-teacher) gave up her Resource class in order to alleviate the problem. Kqisha (the math teacher) teaches the AMPS class (accelerated math) so that kinks the schedule because only 16 kids take that class, and the rest have to be divided into 2 classes which makes for large classes.

What do you mean you aren't a core teacher? What are you teaching?

Well my lateral entry includes an 81-question scavenger hunt that required going through the entire district web site and finding these tidbits of info...I wouldn't even call them tidbits b/c some of the info was quite detailed and took up a lot of time. In addition, we had to read the book "The First Days of School" and had to answer a good 10 pages of questions on that. We have to create a week's worth of lesson plans, obtain our school email, and come up with a list of procedures for this list of concepts they provided us (my list was 4 or 5 pages). I think that's all. Tomorrow I have orientation and I'm going to go to the school for a while but I'm going to leave at 3. They have activities planned for the lateral entries to do like every month through April. It's such an intensive program, much more so than I thought. But I'm enjoying it, and I've even managed to make the room look slightly more colorful, so I'm happy ( ... )
