My friend Melissa told me there was this new drawing thing I might be interested in checking out. It looks sort of like the doodles that decorate most of my notebooks, only it's not doodling, it's a Thing. Called Zentangle

This sounds like someone trying to make money by pretending something valueless is totally important.

If that's the thing I'm thinking of, it's totally weird and they get people to spend money becoming a licensed zentangle teacher or some crap.

Ah yeah! I saw that, it reminds me of EST/Landmark, once you drink the koolaid you get certified to talk other people into drinking it too.

I truly loathe the retrojection.

Saying, "Hey, we do X, and you can see similar things in past art", fine.

Trying to pretend that your group was doing it centuries or millenia before, get a grip. Or at least be interesting, and invent a whole secret society with hand shakes, secret passages, and oddly convoluted geometric shapes that open up passages underneath skeezy New England villages.
