Lessons from Pixar

Dear Pixar:

So what you're saying is that it's okay to flush live fish down the toilet because all drains lead to the ocean and the fish will eventually get home, but it's not okay to throw toys away because they will not only be heartbroken, they will also meet a terrifying, fiery death?

Just checking,

I was trying to persuade my younger child to send FIVE stuffed animals (out of, what, at least 100) to find new homes over the weekend, and she would pick a stuffed animal, and then tell me that said creature had declined to go because he/she was "scared."

And she hasn't even SEEN Toy Story 3!

Haha, a child after my own heart! My mom still tells the story of the rag doll that I gave her to "fix" (it had gotten wet and molded) which she blithely threw away, figuring I'd forget all about it and that would be that. She failed to factor in the love my brother and I shared of watching the trash truck perform its weekly rounds. I actually saw the little rag doll fall from the trash can into the truck's dumpster. *lip quiver*

There may have followed an embarrassing incident involving me trying to chase the truck down and rescue my doll. Also weeping and recriminations that now my doll would think I didn't love her anymore, and it was all my mom's fault.

Wow, that is quite a story.

Eliot cried when our first 1963 Mercury was towed away, gutted. He said that the Classic Rock station played Another One Bites the Dust just as the tow truck pulled away.

According to the "behind the scenes" stuff, they consulted with water treatment people and determined there was a non-zero chance of a (sapient cartoon) fish making it through the process unharmed. They even had a whole sequence of Nemo wending his way through the water treatment facility planned, but was cut for length.
