You know what I hate? Arguments. I hate participating in them, I hate being witness to them, I hate how bad I am at them, I hate how hard it is to stop myself from diving into them, even when they are completely stupid and/or don't involve me in any way. My husband and I met in college. He was at Haverford (at that time single sex, male) and I was at Bryn Mawr (still single sex, female). You could take classes and live on either campus, so having roomed on the Bryn Mawr campus for 3 years by the time we graduated, and having taken almost half his classes there, he was pretty familiar with the characteristics of the Bryn Mawr woman.

One day someone commented that it was impossible to characterize Bryn Mawr women as a type because they were all such rugged individualists.

My husband immediately disagreed. "On most issues and characteristics I'd have to agree," he said, "but they do all have one thing in common. They are all Fierce and Terrible Defenders of the Truth ( ... )

I think you're *wonderful* and I always enjoy your wit and analysis as well as your intuitive grasp of how wrong I am at times.

It keeps me honest when I have to defend my positions and that is always to the good. But that is facilitated by relaxing over brunch and breezy conversation and likely the context you adduce above makes for the fizz in thought patterns. One can only handle so many parallel inputs, IMHO.

You make a perfect eldest daughter, wife and mother. I couldn't be more thankful for you. I'm sure your husband and the young movie star you bore him agree with me. If they don't, let me know.
