Berry Bliss

Today was summer in all its glory. I was fortunate enough to spend most of the day with 3 other lovely ladies. We picked organic raspberries, jumped into Lake Whatcom to wash all the sweat and red-stains from our bodies, and enjoyed a nice lunch. I now have 9 pounds of raspberries in my fridge, though I may have made a dent in them already. I plan ( Read more... )

Gorgeous! We picked a few raspberries at a friend's house too. It was a smallish patch but heavily laden with fruit. I'll have a few for freezing and the rest for fresh eating. They went well with my breakfast this morning. Plus, we get to go dig up some clumps to transplant into our garden in the spring!

Where did you pick? I have been going to the Fazon Lake / Blue Heron farms for the past few years and I love their berries. I probably won't make it out for raspberries this year, but I will definitely go for blueberries! It's a challenge to get out there since we don't have a car, but I am usually able to swap someone use of a vehicle for a basket of fresh picked berries, or coerce a friend to go with me.

We're supposed to see a few isolated thundershowers today! I love summer storms. Here's to hoping.

Ooooh, you're lucky to be getting some transplants! I wish my yard was big enough for a berry patch!

We picked at Blue Heron Farm. Their berries are always great and I love the family that runs it. We got to see baby chicks when we bought our raspberries! I may go out again for more raspberries, but I'm not sure. Blueberries are always on my list for freezing. I also need to get some huckleberries this summer!
