My youngest cat Buddy passed away last night at an indeterminate time. Kristi found his limp body by the christmas tree around 9PM. I briefly gave him kitty CPR but when I check in his mouth to see if there was any debris and his mouth was cold I knew it was too late. Poor little Buddy. :( Does it cost a lot to do an autopsy to find out what the cause of death was? He was so young.

The Vet thinks he died of a heart complication. He was actually diagnosed with a heart murmur as a kitten and sometimes that can develop into more serious asymptomatic issues. Given that he acted normally right up until he passed away she thinks it's highly possible he died from that.

I don't know how much an autopsy costs but we buried him the morning after he died so we could still say our goodbyes and give him a last petting. We have some plans to beautify "Buddy's Corner" in the spring. We are also going to put together a photo album with all of our pictures of buddy.

Sorry about your kitty. *hugs*

Thank you. I'm still pretty broken-hearted. Buddy was more than a cat to me, he was a good friend and confidant. He was my cohort-in-crime around the house.

Yes, he's buried in the backyard. Not exactly in-line with town ordinances but I don't care. I'm going to make up a nice little flower bed back there with a bird bath and bench.
