I saw my first live cricket* of the season this afternoon, after a morning's campaigning for the local elections. Nottinghamshire had chosen to bat in bright sunshine, though it was very cold, and were 68 for four by lunch. Excellent photographs!

This meant I got a closer look at the white marks and lines that the bowlers were using to measure out their run-ups.

If you had brought some white chalk with you, you could have caused chaos. :)

I saw my first live cricket of the season a few days ago. It was lime green and about 1/4 of an inch long, and came into the house on a gardenia blossom. I caught it in a paper cup and took it back outside.

I liked your photos very much! Well, cricket remains a very English and very mysterious game for me but I like it much much more than baseball (which is equally mysterious ...and it is too violent and probably lacks the finesses of cricket).
