So, a couple of months back, we put some seeds into some earth contained in pots to see what happens. Well, the germinated seeds became little plants and they are still alive. On July 12, I snapped a few more photos to document the garden progress.
From
GardenGreen onions on the left and a large, Japanese green onion called Negi on the right. I planted the green onions a bit heavy and need to thin those out, but both types are growing really fast. We should be able to start harvesting by August.
The Chinese eggplants are also doing well. The plants have doubled in size in the two weeks since I took this photo too. Looks like we need to transplant a couple of these to another container. I don't think we can expect fruit from these until early September.
Here are a selection of four types of Asian peppers. These are growing much slower then the other plants, but they are growing. Maybe one day we will have some peppers.
The topsy-turvy crashed down, so the tomato plant is no longer upside-down and hanging from a hook. It was just way too heavy. I don't know if it is going to make it. The gray flower pot is a new addition. I planted cilantro and Thai basil. I just watered the plants this evening, and saw some tiny plants. I'm hoping these won't go to seed immediately like our other crop of cilantro and basil has. I know it is late to be starting them, but they should do great inside this winter, assuming the cats don't like cilantro and basil.
And the strawberry plants have gotten huge. Not much in the way of strawberries, but I didn't expect much this year. Maybe next summer there will be more than 6 strawberries. While little, the couple of strawberries I ate were really, really good.
And
HERE is the garden progress at the end of June.
