Personality: The most obvious facet of Temari’s personality, and the one that new acquaintances will encounter most often, is her blunt nature. Temari is not shy about her opinions, and will not hesitate to voice them, regardless of what other might think about them. While she never outwardly tries to be offensive or mean during a first impression, Temari will still most often come across as very crude and harsh. This is true, but Temari is also nothing if not honest at all times. By nature, she is also very snarky and sarcastic.

On a day-to-day basis, Temari is not particularly patient. She tries to tolerate things and people that usually bother her (unnecessary loudness, braggarts, idiocy, chauvinists, the list goes on and on) but whether or not she actually succeeded in doing so depends on her mood that day and how persistent the other person is. When she finally reaches the limit of her temper, however, Temari can be a force to be reckoned with.

She values intelligence in her companions, and doesn’t shy away from in-depth conversation or debate. However, Temari is a bit set in her ways; she’s horribly stubborn. When Temari decides that she does or does not like something, it is nearly impossible to change her mind. It takes an especially poignant or intelligent argument to have a lasting effect on her, much less change her opinion about something. Temari is a smart woman, but in a more calculating sense. She prides herself on being a rather talented strategist and being able to assess any situation quickly, and figure out her enemies weakness and use it against them.

Unlike most of the other citizens of Suna, Temari values peace and dislikes unnecessary fighting. She views any kind of war without a cause as a waste of time. That being said, if there is a cause (i.e. if you manage to reach the limit of Temari’s temper) she will not hesitate to kick your sorry ass.

Despite the fact that she was never very close to them growing up, nowadays Temari is very protective of her younger brothers Kankurou and Gaara. She feels an almost motherly affection for them, despite the fact that they both can get on her last nerve more often than not. Anyone who messes with either of them is inadvertently messing with Temari, and that can never end well for the other party. Actually, the same goes for anyone that Temari cares about; she’s very loyal and looks down on people who are not.

Temari likes botany, vegetable and tofu soup, and roasted chestnuts and dislikes squid and octopus. She is always extra-cranky in the morning, but still wakes up at exactly 6am every morning (alarm clock or not) because that was a habit she developed during her early years training to be a kunoichi, when the training sessions were all in the early morning.

Very plainly, Temari is a bit socially awkward, very honest (in a blunt and crude way), loyal to those she cares about, stubborn to a fault, and not someone to be messed with when she is angry.

History: Here and here.

On Temari’s point in canon: (Even though she has not appeared in the manga for a while…) her point in canon is right after manga chapter 430. She knows that Konoha has been attacked, but knows nothing in the way of specifics.

Strengths: In combat, long-distance fighting is Temari’s specialty. Using her fan, she can bring forth hurricane-like gusts of wind that are nearly impossible to avoid. Additionally, more often than not those winds will be mixed with chakra aimed to slice the enemy to piees. She’s pretty intelligent and is a talented strategist, able to assess the state of most situations and discover her opponent’s weakness. Temari has mastered using her surroundings and environment against her enemy. She will asses what part of the battlefield she needs, what part she doesn't, and take care of the demolition with her fan. Because of her constant travels between Suna and Konoha, Temari has very good endurance as well. Because she is a ninja, Temari also knows and is practiced in the basics of information gathering.

Weaknesses: If long-distance combat is her strength, then close-range fighting is her weakness. Temari has never really been taught in hand-to-hand combat, so that is where she struggles. Her stubbornness is almost crippling at times; because she refuses to ask for help even when it is greatly needed, she will often land herself (and her companions) in even deeper trouble. Temari also views her attachment and loyalty to her family and (few) friends as a weakness because she would do anything to keep those that she cares about safe. When someone she is loyal to is in trouble, Temari tends to get a bit reckless and makes foolish choices in an attempt and get to them or help them as quickly as possible, but that often has a reverse effect on the situation. Temari’s temper can also be a problem at times, mostly because of her tendency to hold grudges for a long time.
