Usually I find the fire service to be rewarding and while we often are involved in tragedies we reduce their impact on others or at least provide some comfort and aid. This morning that didn’t happen. Just before 1 AM we got a call for a roll-over accident with possible entrapment. As I’m a good distance from the scene it took me about 15

During the vietnam war, Guam was a major base for our planes and ships. And in 72, one of the base's NCO's vanished without a trace. His car was gone. The house and money and valuables were left behind, along with the family. And the mystery remained unsolved until the late 80s when they started widening Marine drive (which was previously one lane each direction).
There they found his car with him still in it. He'd missed a turn (presumably in the dark) and plowed into the jungle, where his hitting a harder tree slammed his head into the steering wheel and killed him instantly. So for 15 years, this man in a giant late sixties iron sled sat only 5 feet from the jungle's edge, with thousands of people going by every single day, on foot, horseback, and car. And in all that time, not a single person saw him and his vehicle, only yards from the road.

Sorry to say, but the driver does have blame in this! Only seeing as he left the scene and knowing his best friend is there and then not telling ANYONE until hours later...BUT my big issue and where I put a big part of the blame is to emergency personnel. I mean most times when a rollover has happens, the chance that someone has been ejected from the vehicle is pretty high. SOOO, my question is why didn't they scour the area to EVEN SEE if there was someone/something around. Just because there was no one inside the vehicle doesn't mean that no one is there. My first thought would be that the person or people have been ejected from the car. POINT BLANK...THAT SCENE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THOROUGHLY SEARCHED BEFORE THE EMERGENCY PERSONNEL LEFT THE SCENE!!!
