Woo, I fixed the damn light in the livingroom! Replaced the switch, and now it's working fine again! I bought a couple of outlets, too, and I'm going to replace some of the shittier ones with them when I get around to it.

Some people repeatedly linked to this article about the socioeconomic legacy of the Bush administration in a Fark thread, and it's pretty fascinating, in a saddening sort of way. At least it's nice to know that things really are getting better now, at least a little bit.

I just finished watching Six Feet Under, and I've never been this blown away by... well, by anything before. The finale made me cry for over 10 minutes, genuine crying, something I haven't done since my first night in California after I had to move away from Hawaii, when I realized I'd never see most of my friends again. Don't know how long it's gonna last, but right now Amazon's selling HDMI cables for 23 cents each and Toslink cables for 8 cents each! EDIT: plus somewhat high shipping, but still a much better deal than you're likely to find elsewhere. (Up to 3 on the HDMI cables, not sure what the limit on the Toslinks are, I got 5.)

Pixar's latest, "Up", is another masterpiece. They've still got it, and it's still beautiful. Touching, hilarious, and nostalgic in a good way.
