I noticed (as well) that many people kept sticking the flag-pointer in Australia. One thought/theory I had about that, regarding all the reading I've been doing about faulty generalization, et.al, is that it might be due to an isolation-factor. They assume these countries are a "threat" and threats are usually dehumanized...and the best way to do that is through disassociation--and Australia's the most "isolated" spot. But really
