If you think it might work as a gaming resource, as well as for writers, you might check out Steve Jackson Games, publishers of the GURPS system. My daughter-in-law, a lawyer, has done resource books for them on Police and Mysteries, and possibly some other.

There are gaming weapons resources, which aren't quite the same thing.

That does remind me that I need to have a good look at some of them, though.

I'd be all over that kind of resource. Make with it. =)

I have most of the "Howdunit Series" from Writers Digest because that's information I like to have.

Of course, I like fantasy elements in my "gritty reality"...so, yeah, sometimes that katana with the black blade that doesn't reflect light and seems to absorb blood...it's gonna take off the barrel of the gun...or maybe the gunhand at the wrist... ;-)

I'm a big fan of the "Howdunit Series," though I only have a few of them of my own.

And the thing with fantasy is that you need to start from reality as a springboard, then twist it and make it your own.

And seriously, don't get me started on katanas. There's a long rant involving PowerPoint slides and everything.
