Something in the mail for me
So hunger finally forced me out of the house today on my lazy day off. And I checked the mail and there was the cd that my friend Jon had made for me. I tore it out of the envelope, and popped it into my cd player.
The first song on it is one of Jon's favorites "Here comes the sun" The thing is as the opening bars of the music were playing I was driving up the street and could see in the distance lightning. The air was muggy, the wind was blowing. All of this made me smile, one because I love summer storms, two because it seemed an ironic combination of things.
Summer thunderstorms are one of my most favorite things. So I rolled down my window and stuck my hand out of the window to feel the drops as they started to fall. They were big drops that seemed to just be falling out of the sky. And as I am driving my cd plays on, it is filled with songs of pain. Not because that is my mood, but because when asked what songs I wanted these were the ones that I had been singing along to in the car. It just seemed like an odd mixture of things.
So I enjoyed my drive home, and when I got here I spent a couple of minutes sitting in the car just listening to the sound of the rain on the roof.
