Conclusion?? to yesterdays plumbing adventure

So if you recall yesterday I had a little plumbing emergency that I had to rush home and take care of. I stopped by Lowes on the way back to see what they had in the way of drain cleaner for a main line, and was directed to an employee who is/was also a plumber. God. I'm so sorry you're being hit with that type of cost-repair :/ I really hope there's another, better solution that pops up for ya'll.

We're just going to ignore the problem until we can put aside enough to take care of it. Save our emergency funds for actual emergencies.

Wow, this is something I never thought about as a home owner but definitely motivates me to keep the emergency fund on the new place funded! "Oh, this could never happen."

Is it worth getting another opinion on the matter, or is there no reason to disagree with his findings?

No reason to disagree really, I watched the camera going through the pipes and saw for myself. The only other possibility is that there is a hole on the bottom of the pipe and groundwater is sitting in there - which actually would be WORSE than we currently believe and necessitate fixing immediately! Although, if that were the case it would actually be cheaper because they wouldn't have to dig up the line.

As it is though we're just going to put aside money over time and live with it in the meantime. Double flushes, running extra water, will help move shit through the underhouse trap.
