telling it like it is

When I first met Kenshin I was looking for the man who was killing people in the streets and saying he learned his technique from my dojo. Kamiya Kasshin-Ryū is a defensive style. It's not used for killing ( Read more... )

I'm glad he was there to rescue you--and he might of tried to walk away then, but I hear he's the one walking toward you now, yes?

The last time I was here--I developed or rather the condition worsened--er, consumption. My mother had died of it. The constant cold of the world inside the book didn't help it positively at all--and I almost died within its pages many times. If he hadn't saved me, I'd be dead now.

I wish he was here. All he ever did was take off, and leave me alone.

Then make him stay! Chase after him and tell him he can't leave you alone. A little while after Kenshin and I met .... there was a man who wanted Kenshin to fight him. He thought that if he took me, that Kenshin would follow.

Kenshin .... he came after me just like the man thought he would, but he wouldn't do what he wanted. When he realized that he paralyzed me so I couldn't move .... I couldn't even breathe.! If Kenshin didn't fight .... fight with the intent to kill, then he would let me die.

I was so worried about Kenshin. He was going to kill him. He wanted to save me, and he thought that was the only way. But I managed to break the technique he used. I forced myself to be able to breathe. I couldn't bear it if Kenshin had to kill again. Nor because of me. Not ever. That's what really saved my life.

I really don't like these curses.

I tried that, and he left anyway. Besides, he can fly if he chooses, and I can't which makes it more difficult to reach him.

...That's a good man you have, Kaoru-san. A very good man.

Rimudo always swoops in to save me, protect me [even when I don't need it] but then he leaves. Even when heavily wounded. I was so worried about him the last time--when he took off, and left Tomite and I to protect some children, along with Namame and Hatsui when the assassins caught up with us.

Tomite was hurt and Haagasu absorbed his ice power and--and he came back. Saved my life. Tomite's, too.

..Neither do I.

Such loving remarks...

This unworthy one would guess it is fair to say you are experiencing your first curse--

--This unworthy one was born into the farmer class. Then, his name was 'Shinta'... When he was a child, his entire family died in a cholera outbreak and being the only one left, he was sold to a slave caravan. A year later, while traveling through the mountains the caravan was attacked by bandits who went through and slaughtered everyone in their wake ( ... )

W-Well, at least all of that's in the past now, right? I mean, figuratively speaking.

Yeah, except now he's going off to Kyoto to die. I don't think I could bear it if he hadn't told me that he comes back.
