So the last time i saw Elli's brother John, we had our typical debate session, and this time we talked in part about what high school grads should know. He found it egregious that kids today don't learn about the inner details of the Federal Reserve system, and unacceptable that i could obtain a polisci degree without being required to take it. believe you me, I know all about john's need to argue pie-in-the-sky ideals. I might have taught it to him, as I used to also be an idealistic hothead. We argue well, and I know Elli spent a surprising amount of time lamenting that I didn't marry him! You're absolutely right that high school kids need much more basic stuff... And I did win that round by pointing out that my polsci 101 final had to include 'how long does the president serve?' ( David knows this) and 'how many senators to each state?'

We'll fix it, though, because we're the best teachers EVER.
