Most - but not all - mainstream primary and secondary schools in Singapore are Government schools which, in the words of the Education Act, are "organised and conducted directly by the Government". Perhaps this was more by design than by default, and going back all the way to SCGS's inception:An 'English School' is not a school for English or European children, but a school ... in which the medium of instruction is English.

The only Aided English school not under the control of one of the Christian Missions is the Singapore Chinese Girls' School, founded in 1899 by a group of Straits Chinese.

why is the atmosphere as such? all i hear is that it is a convival place etc. so let me know if you're interested to take part. might be good to revive the FOMS team. haha!
