Vampire Diaries II

Right, so I've just caught up on the next two episodes of this show and the hope that the boy's history is still the same? Shattered. It seems that the hints of their changed history weren't just of minor changes but were in fact hints that the whole back story of the boys has changed. The new history is pretty lame, not that their original one was much better, but it explained so much more about the boys animosity towards each other (or at least it explains Damon more than Stefan, as I doubt Stefan would go around haunting Damon. He's just not the type.)
Anyway, so the being strung along by Katherine and turned into Vampires when they accidently kill each other makes more sense then the 'Being shot during the Civil war while trying to rescue Katherine'. I mean, how does that lead the boys to dislike each other? I'm confused.

Damon while personally I feel they've 'demonised' his character (because he was supposed to be a bad boy and not all 'sunshine and rainbows' but he seems to be going a bit over the top, of course it could just be me being out of touch with his character, having read the books several years ago), anyway, he's being hilarious. He has some of the best lines and it's worth watching it simply for his snark.
My personal fav: Damon is lying on the bed reading this book while the girl he's thralled is putting on a dress.
And he comes out with "What's so special about this Bella girl; Edward is so whipped"
...
Girl: "So how come you don't sparkle, anyway"
Damon sighs "Because I live the real world where Vampires burn in the sun"...

I think I love this show just for that; they actually had a poke at Twilight. /So/ worth it just for that.

Bonnie's developing powers are interesting though Damon isn't bothering her yet, I'm not sure if that's because it's too early, and I'm ahead of myself or if it's something that's been cut. Have to wait and see what happens with those two.
Though I think I got carried away last time when I was ranting about the Vampires being revealed too early; I /still/ think Damon should have not been as visible until later, but as for the audience knowing what the boys are: after thinking about it, it makes sense, the reader is told that Stefan is a vampire /way/ before Elena finds out.
I'm still kinda miffed about the random relatives though I mean, Matt is related to Vicki.. er.. Okay then (and I /still/ haven't figured out Elena's brother. *Shakes head*)

The end was interesting though (the last few seconds or so) It's totally different from the book but it's nice seeing the human population cotton on to the fact that /something/ supernatural is going on and decide to do something about it. Shame that as Stefan locked Damon in a cupboard, the towns people are going to be after the wrong vamp. Silly them. =P
Looks like it's going to be getting difficult for Stefan, now Elena just has to find out. It'll be interesting to see if they'll go the Dove route. I'm looking forward to that so I hope they /do/.
