Spoilers, so you've been warned.
Matthew Parkman will live to see another season! Woo hoo!
He's been my favorite character from the start, so I was a little nervous when the promos for last Monday's episode kept saying "two heroes will fall" while showing a picture of five of them, including Parkman (and two that absolutely could not be killed off in Hiro and Claire--people would probably stop watching the show if either of them died).
For all some people on the internet have complained about this season of Heroes, I don't really see what the problem is. Some claimed the show was too "slow paced" or whatever, but in reality it's one of the fastest paced shows on television. Hardly any scenes last more than two minutes, and with the exception of the episode about Bennet a couple of weeks ago, most episodes alternate between characters when switching scenes. The result is something flashy and driving, sort of like a comic book but not nearly so lowbrow.
A few people also complained about Hiro spending so much time in the 17th century, but I thought that was one of the highlights of the show so far. See, while the show didn't manage to avoid following the ridiculous cliche that Texas is mostly wasteland (and hence people referring to 'Texas' generally meaning the wide stretches of land between the cities, for some reason), that was about the only escape the first season had from the repetitive scenery of New York. Hiro's little sidequest, which included the fun of a romantic tryst and some good old fashioned medieval swordplay, gave the viewers some much needed greenery. I loved it.
For next season, we get to look forward to Monica and Micah playing Batman and Robin, Parkman living (a big plus, I think), HRG being morall ambiguous, Claire whining some more about her parents being too strict (which is what teenagers do), and some nifty new villains. Syler being back is great.
I still think Angela Petrelli is the big, secret bad guy behind everything, though. We haven't learned just what her super power is yet, but I think she's been using it to manipulate people, including Adam Monroe.
