I think the main deciding factors concerning Tufts and Northwestern should be size and geographic location. I mean, the Midwest has a very different mentality than does New England, and that might factor in to some extent.
But if I were you, I would stop thinking "should" and think instead "want to" because going to college isn't something you do for other people to look at you and say "Oh, well, SHE went to thus-and-such"; it's for your own personal growth and satisfaction. So if you can, revisit, send some emails about the little daily things that aren't exactly advertised (are the dorms wireless? are the walls soundproof? etc), and think about your overall happiness concerning the two. That might help you, if you're not sure what you prefer as far as the population of the school or the region.
In any case, good luck! And no matter which one you choose, you'll be going to a really great school with lots of opportunities.
