SILLY PEOPLE managed to convinse me that he would be nominated. the love for It's complicated as well means i actually AM surprised. i guess if he didn't have 30 rock he would have been nominated. SAGs love him so maybe? but again, they probs will just give him 30 rock love again. HMPH.
really don't think Meryl will cancel herself, everyone can see the critics awards and knows she is going for J&J so should be fine (can't bear to think otherwise)
well i think breaking bad is snubbed for two reason, one: like i said above, its not fresh in everyones minds (even with the emmy) two: its hollywood FOREIGN press, they really haven't caught onto breaking bad yet right?
Yeah hopefully he will get some SAG-love but I thought GG was his best chance at getting some awards recognition for It's Complicated since they have no problem nominating comedic performances in the past (eg Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder).
yeah they love the comedy and i really was pursuaded he would get a GG nom even with this reason but they want as many stars there as possible. alec is already going so why give him two (even tho they did 3 other double noms this year

Notice not much love for An Education, was meant to be nomed in picture, screenplay and supporting actor but only Carey got a nom.. interesting.
Most of the takes I've seen had only given Carey a good shot at a nomination. For some reason, the buzz isn't really catching on outside of her performance, but I rather liked that movie. I guess the tide could change before the Oscars.
Also, I was oddly bummed about Alec not getting nominated considering I haven't seen the movie. Maybe I won't even think he deserves an award for all I know now.
i think An Education was an amazing movie (but i do love anything female & awardy) but ive seen predicted nominations everywhere for it but yes the buzz has decreased because its women (about a girl, directed by a woman). Maybe opened too early?
and then Alec, maybe the film is opening too late? his buzz is growing but don't think there was enough to get the votes necessary yet by the hfp, such a shame. i think he deserves it because these people would not suddenly decide he should be in the "mix" without reason. its not like they expected to be thinking about movie awards for him (like they would when watching Meryl or invitcus men etc) so there must be reason right?
Maybe. I think a lot of the raves might have been so focused on Carey that the whole of it didn't pushed as hard as it could have? I don't know if that makes sense. But I do think the rest of the film might have receded more into the back of the voters' minds.
Yeah, I'm sure there's reason for it, but I still can't really say I think he deserves it because I haven't seen the movie yet. (But, on the other hand, how will I be less crazy about his performance than the people who've already raved about him, who probably aren't as obsessed about him as I am? So I probably should just assume I'll think he deserves it.) I do think the buzz really came out suddenly, so I think momentum could build enough to get him into the Oscars. Maybe he'll get a SAG award nom, or at least one as part of the IC ensemble.
