Snow crunching under my tires
As I pull into the drive
Out of my car, substantial breath hanging in the air
Deep intake, cleansing my lungs, my soul
I think of you as my tracks break latices
A predator, or prey, caught against the backdrop
Of moonlit simplicity, sculpted regression of nature
This home is cold from a long day lacking you, me
Welcoming me as if to say "Again, you wake me"
Slumbering giant in which we live, grow
Mug in hand, I settle down, watching the drifts
And sleep, dreaming you dreaming me
Touch me once, I awake
Eyes met, a slow, wondering smile breaks
As if the dusk rallied one more time to battle the night
Hand against your cheek, caress and cherish
Flushed from the elements, cold, warm
Heat has arrived and our clothing shed
Like so many trappings of other than us
Pallid trails of red following white
Traced across your skin
Shiver
Reminded of the life around and the death around that
Cocoons created, metamorphosis into another
One to become, as two are not, more
Till we settle down together
Dreaming us, Dreaming us.
