SOPA and Protect IP, an analogy.
It's as if a bunch of people who barely even understand what a wheel is are the ones with the self-appointed task of writing laws governing the use of all vehicles, and they are being bought offlobbied and otherwise heavily influenced by the horse-and-buggy industry, while the automotive engineers in the room as well as everyone else in the country who drives an actual car in this day and age, rather than a horse-and-buggy, are being all but completely ignored.
