It's been a long time coming, but finally, I have changed my browsers' homepages and startup pages for the first time in probably over a decade. It used to be
Google (and before that, it was
Yahoo, and I think maybe
AltaVista briefly, before it got bought by Yahoo shortly after I switched to it from Yahoo, annoyingly), but now I'm going to be giving
DuckDuckGo a shot, for a while. There are just so many little annoyances and disappointments that I've had with Google which have been building up for years (and not just with the search engine part of Google, either), and finally the straw/camel's back event has occurred and now I've switched away, at least for the time being, though probably forever if DuckDuckGo is at least as good as Google used to be, before Google became too bloated and shitty and up its own ass. If DuckDuckGo ever goes the same route as Google, then I'll just be looking for the next best alternative again in another decade or however long.
It's annoying that I still need to use Google for stuff like
Youtube and logins for
Feedly and such, though, but... eh... I'll just have to deal with it, I guess.
