So BioWare is making a new Command & Conquer game.

Except that it's not really BioWare at all. It's "BioWare Victory", which is just some new, generic division of EA* with the "BioWare" name slapped on it, which apparently has nothing whatsoever to do with the actual BioWare aside from both of them being owned by EA. As such, it seems appropriate that they're making a sequel to a generic RTS gameRead more... )

pc, command and conquer, ea sucks, game industry stuff, bioware, games

Did you ever end up playing C&C4? I know you at least had it pre-ordered at one point, but don't recall ever hearing if you kept it or canceled the pre-order or what.

I ended up passing on it for precisely the same reason I'll be passing on Diablo III. From what I've heard about it, I didn't miss much. I figure this new game will probably be more of the same (i.e. the same always online crap and such), but without even Joe Kucan to make it even remotely tolerable this time.

[You ask:]
Did you ever end up playing C&C4?

I did. And it sucked.

[And then:]
but without even Joe Kucan to make it even remotely tolerable this time.

No Joe Kucan?

I'm done. No deal. Raspberry and a thumbs-down.

Yeah, unless they do some kind of ass pull in this second game to try to tie the Generals universe in with the Tiberium/Red Alert universe, then Joe Kucan won't be there. At least not as Kane, anyway. Even the Red Alert series had Kane in at least the first game (particularly in the Soviet ending), though he wasn't in the others, at least as far as I know.

Also, if the second game is anything like the first, then there won't be any of the cheesy cutscenes that the rest of the C&C games are known for in the first place. From what I remember of it, all of the "cutscenes" in Generals were just in-game graphics with voice overs. As such, even if Mr. Kucan were in the game, as Kane or otherwise, it would likely just be his voice at most ( ... )
