I agree. Every time I consider signing up for youtube there's shit brought to the frontlines reminding me why I never bother. (The competition to youtube is starting to grow anyway I guess, so at some point if I still want to host videos I make then there will be options...)

Not that I get tempted often. Google+ forced signup with real name etc stopped me from bothering with youtube (or any new google service started since the Google+ requirement) for a looong time now.

Supposedly they're no longer forcing Google+ on people that sign up for youtube, but stuff like this keeps me away from it anyway.

I know that Botchamania, as one example, has long since abandoned Youtube. Maffew uses Vimeo and Dailymotion. Every video he'd upload to Youtube would get taken down usually within a day or so at most, but aside from a rare few, the ones on the other services have remained up to this day.

Well, I expect that sort of thing to only be the case until the giant companies like WWE or the movie industry or whoever turns their attention to those services, anyway. As it stands right now, they all apparently think that Youtube is the one and only video sharing service on the Internet, because that's the one they're focusing all of their DMCA-flagging efforts toward. I figure it'll only be a matter of time before they finally catch wind of these other sites and start to consider them the same huge threat that they currently believe Youtube to be, though.
