I can't really say I understand why anyone is getting passionate about this movie to the degree that they're taking any side honestly

"People really need to get their heads on straight - it's a freakin' movie. Same can be said about 'it's a freaking book' or 'it's a freaking game' etc. It's just entertainment - if it doesn't float your boat find something else that will rather than BEATING THE HEADS OF EVERYONE ELSE IN until they agree with you."
That's yet another part of the whole thing that I don't get. A lot of these people who are currently raking James Rolfe over the coals have explicitly said in the past the whole "well, if you don't like it, just don't go see it" thing. James made a video explaining why he wasn't going to see it or review it (again, I think, mainly to keep his fans from spamming his inbox with a billion requests for him to review it). But now, those same people are trying to utterly destroy James because he said he wasn't going to go see it
