Do it! Studying abroad was perhaps one of the best decisions I've ever made.
It can be hard not seeing people for a long time, particularly if they're a year behind or ahead of you and planning to go abroad themselves (DMP's going into...sophomore?...year now?) I know there're some friends at Amherst, sophomores, that I'll likely never see again, because I was just abroad for a semester and they're going abroad for a year. That's rough.
But it more than makes up for it. It's a huge change, and it makes you appreciate both the foreign country and your home so much more. You don't really miss your friends till you've been away from them a while. And just think how nice it'll be to come home.
And besides, DMP and you live fairly close by. You'll see each other plenty in the future. And once you've had that experience, there's just so much more to talk about.
You can go read all my LJ entries for the past 6 months if you want a journal of being abroad. That was basically what I talked about. I really thought it was worth it.
well mike whatever you decide, we're always a phone call, or an email away. i've been planning on spending a semester abroad at some point too. most likely ireland. but i don't think i can do that till i'm even a junior, so who knows what'll happen between now and then.
yes, it is a HUGE thing to go spend a semester of college in a new place. i mean, like i told you about ny, that was a HUGE thing for me, and that's only three hours away. it's hard, but you meet absolutely amazing people, and it is something you will never ever regret. yes, i may regret some things that happened there, but i don't regret going. i met some amazing people. and doing something like that, truly is a once in a lifetime thing.
and don't worry, whenever you go, we'll feel free to come and visit you. :-p *hugs* i really hope things start to look up for ya mike.
i dont think i'm going to Japan anymore myself even through i want to so badly. But England is amazing! i speak from experience sorta (i went there a number of years ago) and i absolutely loved it.
if you do go, i'm still making the movie. and i'll send you rushes and such all the time! cuz your imput matters most on it! x>
Damn straight you will ^_~. Yeah I talked it over with my dad, personally I'd RATHER go next year do to a lot of reasons (Jobs/Projects/everything) but I'm afraid something weill go wron gna dI'll need to spend another year or something in college. So We're kinda hoping I can go second symester this school year but most likely it'll be next year.
Mike I think that would be cool because I have been thinking that in my last year at college to go study abroad in Ireland or something like that. Ireland or downunder (not in the sexual way) would be sooooooo cool. We would all miss you alot but as Shannon said we are only a email or a phone call away. I will see you tomorrow.
