The first thing that came to Sirius was the knowledge that something very pointy was jabbed into his shoulder.  He opened his eyes to see what it was, and was immediately hit with revelation number two- the roaring headache knocking about between his ears.

"Oh, ow."

"If you're going to throw up, you'd better do it in the bathroom," Remus mumbled into the pillow.

"Ugh, the room's moving, and m' head's gonna explode.  Get your elbow outta m' shoulder."

"Oh stop your whinging."  Remus flopped over onto his back and grinned sleepily.  "You're lucky you even made it to the bed.  That in itself was quite a feat which, if I recall correctly, involved a few broken vases, several violations of our rules concerning public affection, and a particularly poor rendition of 'Auld Lang Syne' screamed into my left ear."

"That's the one 'bout gay friends and embraces, right?  Those Scots sure were racy fellows.  I think m' arm's gone numb.  Speakin' of," Sirius said, poking an index finger into Remus's cheek, "How're you so...?"  Sirius gestured vaguely.  "I saw you knockin' back the champagne last night, same 's me."

"I know how to drink intelligently.  Meaning, I wasn't trying to go shot-for-shot with James and Peter.  In case all the alcohol has done permanent damage to your brain, James is the one with the freakishly impressive tolerance for firewhiskey, and Peter has 40 pounds on all of us."

"I didn't stand a chance," Sirius moaned mournfully.

"There, there."  Remus said, sitting up and patting Sirius on the knee.  "I'll get you a glass of water.  You know I can't resist you when you're pitiful."  Remus stood and stretched, shuffling across the room.

"So," Sirius said, "Just how many of your public affection rules did we break?"  Remus stopped with a hand on the door and turned back, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

"Our rules, and let's just say that I don't think I'm going to be able to look Lily in the eye for a while."

"Heh.  Does she need the birds and the bees explained to her?  I'd be happy to serve."

Remus laughed and shook his head, closing the door with a soft click.  Burrowing back under the blankets again, Sirius hummed contently to himself as his headache began to fade away, sinking gently into the cool cotton of the sheets.
