"Take him and cut him out in little stars, And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun."
Oh, I have bought the mansion of a love / But not posesse'd it, and, though i am sold / not yet enjoyed...
something like that.
.... :'D that entire speech was probably about Juliet wanting to sleep with Romeo... *swt* but that image... is so lovely.. ;; Shakespeare was truly a genius *w*''
feajfioa ... BLARGH I STILL LOVE this play >_<' tragic but so beautifully balanced. :( it's a pretty play indeed.
Some of his works are sappy indeed, but sometimes I think that's only because they've been overused and overworked in a million different ways that they've become stereotypes :( When you think about it, Romeo and Juiet isn't really that sappy. It's a frightening account of young love and its consequences, considering it's about two angstful teenagers who fall in love in the space of (around?) three days and die for it.
He can make a girl moaning about how she wants to have sex sound hopelessy romantic. He's definitely a genius *cracks* :'D They really do set a whole different standard, but sometimes I wish people would just watch the plays and enjoy them for what they are without having to overanalyze. T^T'''
*sniffs into tissues*
SORRY FOR RANTS. :'D JUST HAD TO LISTEN TO PEOPLE PRATTLE ON ABOUT SHAKESPEARE FOR TWO HOURS TODAY .___.''
Yeah, I suppose it has been taken out of context so much it lost its meaning after 400 years. 16th century (correct me if I'm off by a few centuries XD) romance is not what we of today experience or perceive it to be. If you were to ask me, pure, self-sacrificing love like that only happens in text books--not even on-screen romance seems "clean" anymore. (One other good example is that any relationship cultivated that is even remotely romantic in nature with a 14-year-old girl today can be considered pedophilia or even statutory rape. But before, women--or rather, girls--normally get married at that age.)
LOL! People before speak in a whole different language. They knew how to be eloquent, cultured, and articulate, unlike today...sadly, not a day will pass by without you hearing so many shortcut lingo and gender-specific jargons. Agreed. A lot of people are too dependent on reason...no wonder humankind is due to self-destruct :P
Awww! That's fine. Rant all you want! It exercises your mind, doesn't it? :D
Ah...hi! This is kind of awkward, but it always is. I followed some links and ended up here from your deviantART page--I was combing for Peacemaker Kurogane fanwork, see, and you came up! Would it be okay if I friended you?
