I tried internet searches, yellow pages, and an e-mail to Blue Bunny, the maker of the ice cream novelties I am hoping for.

I wonder if ice cream truck drivers have to register with the local board of health, or whoever does restaurant inspections... Maybe a call to that entity would yield some fruit?

Good luck! This is an awesome idea!!

whenever i see them, they have phone numbers on the back, which makes me think that they are pretty much independent and individually owned.

hmmm. if you wanted just ice cream individually, then I would contact any of the sponsors listed here: http://www.austinicecreamfestival.com/sponsor.html
and ask them about rolling up a truck. I've had Amy's give out ice cream at quite a few company parties.

but i suspect you want ice cream novelties, like big sticks and ice cream sandwiches. that's really difficult. i found equipment rentals, but nothing in terms of a company, much less a large company, that does it.

last resort, i'd contact the Good Humor folsk and see if tyhe have a franchise in town: http://icecreamusa.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/icecreamusa.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php

I didn't find one, though.

Your post made me remember that I'll be going up to Iowa (where the wedding will be) in July, and that I can scout around for trucks while I'm there. It's so simple, it's brilliant.
